Access to the Iida Puppet Festa headquarters
(Iida Cultural Hall)
Coming from Nagoya (Chubu International Airport:Centrair)

(1) Using public transportation

  1. Take the Meitetsu Line from Centrair, and get off at Nagoya Station (at least a 28 minute ride)
  2. From Nagoya Station, it’s about a 5 minute walk to the Meitetsu Bus Center, where you can take a highway bus to Iida. Get off in front of Iida Station (Iida-eki mae) (the fastest bus takes 1 hour 14 minutes)
  3. From in front of Iida Station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the Iida Puppet Festa headquarters (Iida Cultural Hall)
    The total time is about 2 hours 42 minutes, although this may change depending on the time taken to change trains etc, and traffic conditions.

(2) Using a rental car

If you rent a car from Centrair and take the highway, you can reach the Iida Puppet Festa headquarters (Iida Cultural Hall) in about 160 minutes, though this may change depending on traffic conditions.

Access from Tokyo / Nagoya

(1) Using the highway bus

  • From Tokyo
    Board the bus at the Shinjuku Bus Terminal, and get off at Iida Shoko-kaikan.
    There are 17 buses/day each way (4 hrs 11 min. / express 3 hrs 59 min.)
  • From Nagoya
    Board the bus at the Meitetsu Bus Center, and get off at Iida Shoko-kaikan.
    There are 15 buses/day each way (express 2 hrs 4 min. / super express 2 hrs 1min./ also buses arriving via Hirugami Onsen)
    *After getting off the bus, a 25-minute walk will take you to the Iida Puppet Festa headquarters (Iida Cultural Hall).

(2) Using JR (Japan Railways)

  • From Tokyo
    1. From Shinjuku Station, use the Chuo Main Line bound for Shiojiri. Take either the Azusa or the Super Azusa (approx. 2 hrs 40 min.)
    2. Get off at Okaya Station and change trains to the Iida Line bound for Iida (approx. 2 hrs 6 min.)
    3. Get off at Iida Station.
  • From Nagoya
    1. From Nagoya Station, board the Tokaido Shinkansen (bullet train) Hikari bound for Tokyo (approx. 19 min.)
    2. Get off at Toyohashi Station and change trains to the Iida Line bound for Iida (approx. 3 hrs 48 min.)
    3. Get off at Iida Station.
      *After getting off the train, a 15-minute walk will take you to the Iida Puppet Festa headquarters (Iida Cultural Hall).

(3) Coming by car

  • From Tokyo
    From various points, get on the Chuo Expressway at Hachioji I.C.
    (It takes approx. 3 hrs 30 min. from Hachioji IC to Iida IC)
  • From Nagoya
    From various points, get on the Chuo Expressway at Komaki Junction.
    (It takes approx. 1 hr 30 min. from Komaki Jct to Iida IC)
    *It takes about 10 minutes from Iida IC to the Iida Puppet Festa headquarters (Iida Cultural Hall).
